Integrating sustainability into the IMS / GAP analysis

Carmen Piernot, Also in Deutsch · Français

Sustainability is no longer a side issue. A GAP analysis shows where an integrated management system (IMS) stands today – and what is missing to anchor sustainability effectively.

Five steps

  1. Reflect on sustainability in its social and economic context and derive follow-up actions.
  2. Identify national and international requirements and standards and address them in the management system.
  3. Integrate sustainability topics into corporate strategy and policy, and manage them.
  4. Use a materiality analysis to identify opportunities and risks from the perspective of the company and its stakeholders, and define suitable actions.
  5. Present the results for each audience – for example in a report under the German Sustainability Code (DNK).

Sustainability concerns us all. The first step is often the most important one – I'm happy to take it with you.
